Editing process

«der informierte arzt» publishes continuing education-oriented articles from all areas of general internal medicine and is primarily designed for physicians in primary care, but also in the hospital environment. «der informierte arzt» is published monthly.

The topics are selected in collaboration with a board of general practitioners, standing for the practical relevance of the topics. The articles are written on invitation by the editorial board, by renowned experts in their particular field. Submitted manuscripts will also be considered for publication after a standard reviewing process.

Each month, the permanent medical education in our journals includes on top of various articles a main topic covering all relevant specialties of general internal medicine over a period of 2 years, and alternating columns from geriatrics, dermatology, pneumology, and diabetes. Editorial reports from specialist congresses and symposia round off the issues. Presentations of selected clinical studies from the specialist literature bring international research into practice. Health policy issues are also addressed.

All contributions are evaluated by the scientific «Editorial-Board» of«der informierte arzt» (Marcel Weber, MD (Editor-in-Chief) , Christian Häuptle, MD (Co-Editor-in-Chief) , Prof. Thomas Cerny, MD, Urs Dürst, MD, PD Thomas Münzer, MD, Andreas Huber, MD, and Stephan Vavricka, MD). Support is provided by a large interdisciplinary advisory board consisting of academic specialists who are experts in their individual clinical field. Submitted manuscripts are additionally reviewed by external reviewers (double blind peer review) either at the request of the authors or on decision by the editors. Such articles will be assigned a DOI number. All published articles are accompanied by an abstract in English.

Aerzteverlag medinfo AG guarantees the editorial independence of the journals and is committed to the principles formulated by the World Association of Medical Editors («The Relationship Between Journal Editors-in-Chief and Owners»). Medinfo is committed to ensure that there are no conflicts of interest between the editors and the material published.

«der informierte arzt» does not charge article processing charges (APCs) or page charges..

The Swiss Society of General Internal Medicine SGAIM certifies the quality in continuing medical education created provided by «der informierte arzt» and  grants  1 CORE credits AIM/MIG required to maintain the license for general internal medicine upon completion of a controlled questionnary with each issue.

Not only the content, but also the edition of «der informierte arzt» is reviewed:  As a «Q-title of the Swiss media» it is certified by the WEMF with regard to the printed edition and the address dispatch.

Furthermore, «der informierte arzt» is patronized by the APA (Ärzte mit Patientenapotheke), as well as by the Swiss Society for Geriatrics SFGG and the «European League against Pain» EULAP.
