Thank you for your interest in publishing with «der informierte arzt», the Swiss journal for continuing medical education in primary care. Below you will find key information on manuscript preparation, rights, transparency, and editorial policies.


Submission and Contact

Manuscripts must be submitted by email to: verlag@medinfo-verlag.ch

We kindly ask authors to also read our full Publication Ethics and Policies section, which outlines our editorial standards, peer review process, correction policy, and publishing principle.


Manuscript Preparation

  • Format: Unformatted Word document, approx. 15,000 characters incl. spaces (~4 print pages), without embedded images
  • Figures and tables: Submitted as separate files (JPG or TIFF, min. 300 dpi, 10×15 cm)
  • Portraits: Up to 3 author photos (JPG or TIFF, 1–2 MB)
  • Contact: Full name, title, postal address, email and phone number of corresponding author
  • Structure:
    • Title
    • Abstract (800–1000 characters in German and English)
    • Up to 5 keywords
    • Main text with subheadings
    • Take-Home Messages: 3–5 bullet points summarizing key messages
  • CME: Please provide 2 multiple-choice questions (4 options each, with 1–3 correct answers) for SGAIM CME accreditation
  • Accepted Article Types: Review articles, Case reports

Figures and References

  • Images and tables: Include titles, legends, explanations of abbreviations; ensure copyright clearance
  • References: Cited in order of appearance in the text (e.g. (1)), listed in Vancouver style
    Example: 1. Fowler MJ. Microvascular and Macrovascular Complications of Diabetes. Clin Diabetes. 2008;26(2):77–82.

Authorship and Copyright

  • All listed authors must have contributed substantially to the article.
  • Upon final proof approval (Gut zum Druck), authors agree that Aerzteverlag medinfo AG obtains the right to:
    • publish the article in print and online
    • grant access and usage rights to third parties
    • provide reprints upon request
  • The editorial board reserves the right to publish a shortened version in print and to make the full version available online, depending on article length.
  • Reprints can be ordered directly through Aerzteverlag medinfo AG.

Conflicts of Interest

To ensure transparency, all authors are required to declare any financial, professional or personal relationships that may be perceived as conflicts of interest in connection with the article.

  • Disclosures will be published at the end of each article.
  • COI declarations are mandatory and systematically requested.

Article Processing Charges

We do not charge article processing fees (APCs) or page charges.
Submission, peer review and publication are entirely free of charge for authors.


Access and Archiving

  • All articles are available via our website to licensed medical professionals with an active subscription to one of our journals.
  • In addition, each article is permanently archived at the Zentralbibliothek Zürich:
    www.zb.uzh.ch
