Influenza vaccination can significantly reduce cardiovascular events such as acute myocardial infarction, stroke, and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. Prevention using an inactivated, quadrivalent HD vaccine should be performed in persons 65 years of age and older with chronic disease or in seniors ā„75 years of age each fall, according to WHO. Unfortunately, influenza vaccination coverage in chronic disease is still far too low today. Medical advice and motivation are critical in this regard. The goal would be a vaccination rate of this population ā„75%. Excess mortality from influ¬enza is primarily cardiovascular. Key Words: Influenza, influenza vaccination, cardiovascular diseases in influenza, myocardial infarction
